Normal recommended number of cores for Cycle is 2 cores per Cycle JVM, with 4(min) - 8(max) gb heap size. The recommended cores must be hyper-threaded with VM having large number of cores, multi node clusters can run on same VMs.

For example: if VM has 16 cores, 32 cores, or 64 cores, technically, it can run 8, 16, 32 cycle nodes on the same VM but that topology is not conducive from load-balancing and fail-over capabilities. In such cases, more number of cores can be used per node. Instead of running 8 cycle JVMs on a 16 core machine, 4 cycle nodes can run but should have at least 2 such machines for failover. Topology can be adjusted based on usage and volume.
